Its the 2nd day of November, and really don't wanna go anywhere. Why don't i have a friend i can call to come around anyway? At least one that will spend a full day with me? Ola wondered while turning and tossing on her huge Bed.
"They all will rather spend their free time with their boo." was Ola's answer to herself.
Do I identify with Ola? Yes! Absolutely. Not as an adult, but as a young teenager, trying to make sense out of her world. And am always surprised to see the number of people, adults, still waiting for life to happen to them. Waiting to have friends who will call them up and ask about their Day. Wake up! Its not gonna happen if you go about life the way you are right now.
I once told my boyfriend, " the only call i get is from you!!" Lovingly he replied, "Well, how many people do you call?" And i thought about it, How many people do I buzz? Whose life am i adding value to? In fact, I've had my BB (for the unconverted, that is an acronym for Blackberry) for almost the whole of this year and just got my 20th contact yesterday!!! (Not kidding!)
Am not asking you to be a nuisance and neither am I a fan of calling people up and just bugging everyone around you. I am not in anyway encouraging anybody to do that. I'm saying HAVE A BALANCED LIFE!!!
How will you make friends if you are not yourself friendly? And how will you be known as friendly if you don't even go out and make friends? I saw a friend's face-book status this morning and an excerpt from it says, ".....why not start living your life such that every night, someone goes to bed thanking God for your life because you would have made their life a little easier by your actions."
Why not try making that your Mission Statement and Action Plan for the next 60 days of 2010 and see if your life will not turn around.
A friend pointed out in her Blog Yesterday that Jesus went to Parties!!!! I never saw it that way before, but really, he did. He did not always just sit at home with his 12 disciples talking and sharing proverbs alone with them. He even supplied the WINE at a wedding!!! Best Wine of the day was the testimony of the other people at the party.
Life with Jesus was not a boring one for the disciples, it was full of doing good and reaching out to others.
What am I trying to say here, If your life is BORING, and you really want a change, Wake up from your slumber and take a firm grip of your life and start steering the wheel. We all sometimes say "Jesus take the wheel". I kinda disagree with that prayer. Jesus gave you a pair of hands, he can lead you on how to steer the wheels of your life but he wont take over the steering from you (Now that a whole new Blog. Watch out). I know some people wont agree with my thoughts, please feel free to criticize but in the midst of the criticism, think about it and be sure you are not just wheeling out old thoughts and mantras.
Here's my advice if you don't want the next 60 days of 2010 to go with the Wind. the author called them the 7-UPs
- WAKE UP: Decide to start having good days, great days from today, from right now!!!
- DRESS UP: Now go into your wardrobe and look for something nice to wear but i must remind you, the best dress to put on is a very good smile.
- SHUT UP:- God gave us 2 ears and 1 mouth for a reason. Listen moreeeeeeeeeen and stop spreading rumours. Let only good reports about others come from you. If it's bad, please SHUT UP.
- STAND UP:- Stand up for what you believe in. Don't be a coward.
- LOOK UP:- Look up to God, and ask him to lead you.
- REACH UP:- Think bigger than what you are right now and start working towards achieving your thoughts Too vague? I know, and will explain what I mean. Your focus has been on yourself for too long, its time to also focus on other people and the need of others. Be a friend.
- LIFT UP:- Lift up not just yourself, but others around you in prayers.
Most importantly, try meeting the needs of someone or people around you. Identify groups that are already involved in contributing to the society (NGOs) and support them with your time and (OR) with your money.
Our primary assignment on earth is to function as an extension of God's hand on earth in meeting the needs of people around us.
If Heaven made him - earth can find some use for him(Chinese proverb). We are all here on the earth for a reason! Even if you still haven't figured exactly what that purpose is, why not start living your life such that every night, someone goes to bed thanking God for your life because you would have made their life a little easier by your actions. ReplyDeleteNice on Larah. If you do not reach out to people, rarely would people go out of their way to reach out to you. Nice one. *wink*
