I Love You But............. *Sigh*

My eyelids are heavy, my whole body aches  and my back longs for the comfort of my sweet lovely bed. I really, really, truly, really, really, don't want anything more than me lying on my bed, and allowing sleep to take its course for a while while i go on a journey to the lalala dreamland.
However, this is something that happened to me over the weekend and wanna share as my TOT (Thoughts out There) for the week before i go 2 sleep.
So here it is................
I walked into the church with Zmar and we were about to take our sit when i noticed this unique hairstyle on someone sited a couple of rows in front of me. The person (chic, i thought), had short thick african natural hair, she braided the back but left the hair from the middle upfront undone. Truth be told, the hair was looking quite rough and unkempt.
Maybe she rushed out of the salon to attend service. Why didn't she just tie a scarf or get something to cover this hair?
Those were my first thought, then upon a closer look, i saw that this person did not have earings on and was wearing one very weird jacket.
Ohhhhh, definately a visitor from one of those other "Non-happening Naija churches."

Suddenly she turned around during the worship and my heart skipped a beat!!!
The SHE was a DUDE!!!
A guy???? Na wah oooo (Nigerian way of saying Duh!). All these very weird styles people come up with!!! Cant he see just how untidy he looks? If you wanna go on Dreads, common, go ahead!!!  But this? Sooo not cool!!!
Anyway, i became caught up in worship and did not give the guy another thought.
After service, at the car park,we were about to reverse out when i saw him again properly. I did not even look at his face, all i saw was -----ohhh, this hairstyle again! lol.
Some mins later, in the car, a message was playing on the Radio and suddenly it hit me!!!!
Its not really about him, all along its really been about me. I would love to say i did not develop a pre-conceived notion about this guy (lets call me Pete) but in reality I had pre-judged him without even knowing him.
Somewhere at the back of my mind, i saw Pete not as a brother in the Lord. Most definately didnt think of him as a potential friend (that's a real  Stretch!).

Looking back and judging myself, my thoughts (thank God no actions).
I wanna agree with the concept that says we all live in a Box, a box full of our beliefs, our values, our standards and ideals. And usually, when we meet people, or even the people in our lives, in creating a relationship with them we try to fit them into this box (our value system). When they don't fit. We see them as strange and not right.
Remember Susan Boyle? The  very first time she appeared on stage to sing? She did not look right did she? Am sure over 90% of the people there that day thought this is gonna be another horrible performance. However, juxtaposition of her appearance, general first impression of her and her voice
made us all realise indeed people are (or should i say can be) a whole lot more than how they appear.
Right now, SuBo (as she is fondly called) looks set  to knock off  favourite country singer Taylor swift from the Top spot on top 100 Billboard.
People are much more than just their appearance.

Watch out for the concluding part!!!!
Ciao People. Gotta sleep.

  1. Inspired....but also, people should try to present themselves with some level of dignity as well. You never know via what channel your breakthrough could come and if you are unprepared for it....too bad.
    Bless you sis
